Sabah Churches to Hold Special Prayer for Malaysia Day

A special prayer has been planned by churches here to celebrate Malaysia Day which will be held on a low key in Sabah.
The celebration and A Day to Bless Malaysia programme will start with an 8.00 am gathering to commemorate the formation of Malaysia 49 years ago at the Padang Merdeka here.
A colourful song and dance programme would be held at the Likas stadium from 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm, while churches nationwide have agreed to conduct a synchronised blowing of ram horns and trumpets at 7.00 pm. Co-organising chairman Pastor Steven Choon was thankful for the cooperation given by the City Hall as well as other government agencies during their month-long preparation for the event.
“We are thankful that this event is listed as one of the programmes in conjunction with the state-level celebrations this year.
“We would like to express our gratitude for the support and advice offered by the various government departments and agencies to ascertain a memorable experience,” he said.
Kota Kinabalu mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir is expected to grace the event.
The national Malaysia Day celebration will be held in Bintulu, Sarawak.
Choon said a special Jubilee Malaysia song has been composed for the occasion, which will end with a united prayer for nation-building, a declaration to bless Malaysia and a fireworks display.
