Old Town Hall & Astronomical Clock

Probably the best way yet to escape the tourist mobs on Old Town Square is to ascend the Old Town Hall & Astronomical Clock tower. The blackened stone building, established in 1338, is a national treasure that was badly damaged in World War II.
The Old Town Hall & Astronomical Clock hosts fascinating art and photography exhibits in addition to tours of the Old Council Hall, and Astronomical Clock tower, built in 1364. The 12th-century dungeon served as a Resistance arms cache during the Prague uprising in 1945.

Jan Hus Memorial
The Jan Hus Memorial was designed by Ladislav Šaloun and it was unveiled in 1915, 500 years after Jan Hus’ martyrdom, who was burned at the stake in 1415 for propagating the idea that the Catholic mass should be given in the vernacular, rather than in Latin.
The Jan Hus Memorial symbolizes the strength of the the Czech Republic against oppressive regimes. The beautiful monument was paid for solely by public donations.
